Traditions Full Bore

I don't have any range reports just yet but i know some of you wanted to see them. Basically the Hornady FPB with a yellow insert. They measure .505" At the base.

100gr Blackhorn209 @ 100 yards. I haven't weighed them all yet but one did weigh in at 197 grains out of 300.

Have to use a short starter as well. In my new Optima one wack gets it down while in my other CVA's it takes 5 or 6 wacks before they will go down.

Do you think it's just a rebadged FPB ? similar to the SST/Shockwave ? Ray

FBP
FullBore Black Powder Projectile
I bet the only thing thats different is the cardboard advertising insert.
Looking for the price, thinking they might be cheaper than FBP.

$19.99 for the Fullbores.

Heres some better pictures.

I shot them in my Wolf today at 100 yards with 100gr Blackhorn209, cci 209m primers and pulled a 1 1/2" group with open sights. Surprised the heck out of me to be honest. I didn't think i could pull that off with my eye sight being the way it is. It will only get better next month.

Wish they would bring these out in 45cal.

FPB's can be found for 13bucks or so on line.I found them local once for 9 bucks so I stocked up.Have the Traditions hit the market yet? I have not seen them. How did they do on paper with your 100yard shot?

UncleNorby 08-15-2011 06:45 AM

I shoot FPBs in my Remington (Traditions) Genesis. I find that if you pre-size the bullets, you can load with fingers. Just remove your breechplug and insert bullets into the muzzle nose first. Slide them through the bore and out the breech onto a soft surface. I do the whole pack when I buy them. Makes loading a snap.

Norby, That sounds like a novel idea. Question is though. Do you get the rifling cut in to the bullet doing this and if you do, do you line up the rifling grooves when loading?

UncleNorby 09-27-2011 01:11 PM

Not with my bore. I do see faint marks left by rifling, but the rifling does not cut a groove in the copper. No need to index upon loading. All the pre-sizing really does is reduce the diameter of the skirt to the size of the bore.
