Casters - need an answer fast.

When you make your own bullet lube with 50:50 beeswax and alox, do you use the liquid alox (Lee) or semi hard tube(Lyman)?

Both will work. But I like the solid Alox.
Another Great Solid Lube...

4 ounces of Castor Oil * you can buy this in 4 ounce bottles at Wall Mart..

1 ounce of bees wax melted

100 grains of liquid or solid Alox * I like to cut the solid and weigh out what I need Then melt it down. When I use the liquid, I put a plastic medicine measuring cup, like you get with cold medicine. Put that on the scale and then zero the cup. Then weight out the liquid, and give it just a touch more then what you want because all that sticky liquid never seems to come out of the cup. This also makes a great lube.

I use the cheap micro wave plastic dishes ... Glad makes them.. and I melt the beeswax and Alox together after it has been weighed. Once it is liquid and hot.. add the liquid Castor oil and stir that together. It makes an excellent patch and conical lube.

Speaking of beeswax, where do you get yours? I'm looking for a cheap source. It's to waterproof a coat so it does not have to be high grade/pure stuff.

Bronko22000, sorry to highjack the thread, but it looks like you got your answer. :o

Found it on the internet a few years ago. Can't recall where anymore.

Dave, that homemade recipe of yours - how firm is it? Will it hold up in 80* temps?
If not, would more beeswax will make it firmer???
