Knight Bighorn Question
 

For those of you that remember awhile back I had a chance to save a Knight Bighorn. Well I still have the chance but I have questions. Is there a breech plug tool to remove the breech? Also is it just a primer gun, no disc or plastic thing? From Knight's website it seems that its just a primer. 209 or number 11. The gun is kinda in bad shape. You can tell they didn't clean it very well. Its going to need alot of work. Its stainless steel with a black thumbhole stock. They want 125 for it and I did have them down to 100 but I wanted it less. They have sat on it for over six months now so maybe they will take it down some more. Oh i forgot to ask. Is it compatiable with BH209?

So with what I said is it worth 100? If I need a breech plug tool were do I get one? Knights website doesn't show one.

Side note. I just found that it does take the red plastic jacket. Do you replace that everytime you shoot? And looking at it I assume that BH209 wont work. Is that right?

Try a breaker bar and a long extension with a socket.
Some use them two or three times, I don't care for them and used a breach plug that did not need them.
DO NOT PUT blackhorn 209 in an open breach of that type it is dangerous.

I'd offer $50. It seems like muzzle loaders in that shape go for $50-75 around here fairly often. A buddy sold his Knight last year and told me I could have it for $50. I passed, and it took him a while to sell it. Muzzle loaders just loose their value super quickly around here. I'm not sure why, but they do.

Knight 209 FPJ plunger guns come up for sale in descent shape for $150 or less. SS maybe a bit more.

As for BH209, ive done it and don't recommend it. 80gr seemed safe but 100gr would pop the FPJ off with some bullet/sabot combos. Its probably better to use more T7 or whatever powder and get a bit more fps safely. You dont have to use fresh ones but i would for hunting. Remove the primer and put them in a basket in the dishwasher. :p

I wouldn't reuse them much though.

A bare gun, in good shape without any accoutrements is worth that. Less in the condition you described.

There are hex head and slotted breeches (my new Bighorn is hex head). Knight combo tool is what you need.

Knight carries both, so does Amazon and others. They make a longer version (9.5") to clear scopes. Call Knight first to confirm your needs (hex or slotted).
