Default Colorado Elk Hunt info

I just got invited to hunt Elk in the middle of October 2012. I haven't taken any time to check into anything. He did say it was rifle season so i hope i don't have any restrictions with a ML. It's public land and going in by horse back and setting up camp. Sounds fun and it's real cheap. No guarantee but it sure will be fun trying.

If it's a popular unit that needs points for a bull. Put in for a cow.

If it is the middle of Oct. Then it could be a draw as the first rifle season is draw only. Second and 3rd season are OTC tags. Better check

Most likely it will be 2nd rifle season which is Oct 22-30. As stated, pretty much anything goes with a blackpowder rifle during that season (sabots, scope, pellets). Good luck! What area?

if its private land then there pretty much will be a great deal of left over tags for that.

We may have a chance to hunt a few thousand acres of private land in unit 51 for cow elk or doe.

Good luck on your elk hunt. I am really trying to put together a cow hunt with my new FL in Unit 521 next year. I have hunted that unit several times in my life, and I know it well enough to assure a cow, I just need to get a tag. Tom.

The guy said it would be a 7 day hunt in October. I need to call him this week.

Sounds like fun. I'm heading to TX for an archery red deer and bison hunt. Wish I could use my ML for the bison but its an archery only ranch.
