Green Mountain Barrels
Thinking about getting a GM 1 in 70" twist 32" round ball barrel for my T/C .54 caliber Hawken. How is the fit, and most importantly how do they shoot? If anyone uses these barrels, I would appreciate any feedback.

There is some minor adjustments you sometimes have to make. But they normally fit perfect and they are fantastic roundball shooters.

I have one on a .54 Renegade and it shoots tennis ball sized groups at 100 yards with 100gr of real BP FFG and a hair larger with 110gr dose.Complete pass throughs on Alberta WT's broadside..018 patch and .530 ball.........Harold

Hello friend. Wow, you are new in here. Just about everyone of us has at least one GM barrel. I own several. And I just purchased the same barrel you did. I am still waiting to get home and shoot it.

Mine shoots "pretty well" Landngroove. :) This is from my Renegade with a GM .54 1:70 twist barrel (with a 4X scope).
50 yards. ![]() 75 yards. ![]() 100 yards. (I expect I can get this a little tighter with more load development.) ![]() |
Boy Semi, that is hard to swallow getting groups like that at 50 and 75 yds then have it expand that much at 100 yds. I would have tried another group at 100 to see if it wasn't operator error.(even though I know you are a 'crack shot'). Could have been your eyes were getting a little tired or you got smoke in them.
I'm hoping to get out and shoot my 54 this weekend with PRBs. I am going to start with 80 gr of FFg and work my way up. I had to order a cleaning jag and need to get that in before I start shooting. |
