To all you T/C black diamond owners. do these rifles shoot conicals well. there is a .45 cal XR SS/Synthetic 1:28 twist on gun broker no reserve. interesting looking rifle.do they come with a QLA? Ray

builder, I have the .50 cal Black Diamond XR and yes it has the QLA. I am 99.9 percent sure the .45 does as well. I have never tried conicals in mine, but it has been a great rifle.

I own a Black Diamond XR .50 caliber. This was shot one morning during season. I was going to change locations and so I was no longer going to shoot a sabot. You can see the sabot hole on the far right. I then shot No Excuses Conicals after that to check the scope. I truly believed this was 100 yards at the time I marked the target. But at that time I had no range finder and based my distances on paces. I later discovered this was approximately 88 yards. yes, my black diamond will shoot conicals very well. But that is no guarantee that another will do the same. Mine does have the QLA. |
Well after looking closer at the rifle, it is the super.45 blackdiamond. which i understand is 1:20 twist. i want a .45 cal to shoot strictly conicals from, this is why i was asking.. thanks for the reply's. Ray

One of the ones i saw for sale said 1-28 twist (in the ad) and had Super 45 on the barrel IIRC. Im not sure if all of them are or not. I know the older Super 45 addon ML barrels for some T/Cs were either all or mostly 1-20 though.
Personally, i think they look so nice i would cut off the QLA if needed. |

I know my Elite 45 with a 1-30 will shoot them fine upto a 360gr. Actually i think that was my best 100 yard group ever with it. I never tried anything heavier. A Knight Original 1-20 would likely shoot the heavy weights really well. I probably wouldn't waste my time either cutting a 45cal 1-28 but i might consider it if needed on a 1-20 just because it should shoot 400gr+ conicals better with the faster twist.
