Sounds like one of the kit guns.

Yes, that is a kit gun. Check the barrel and see if the serial number starts with a K.

Kit, or someone browned the factor barrel. Everything else is standard.

Also remove the barrel or the lock and you will see a "K" stamped into the wood also identifying it as a kit gun. But IMO there is no difference in value between a kit and production gun if the bluing was done by a smith (professional job) and the stock was finished correctly. I personally like the individuality of the kit guns. No 2 are alike - especially when it comes to stock finishes.

Standard? never seen a hawkins with a monte carlo cheek piece on it lol.i looked at the serial No#. but don't recall seeing a K. will double check though, it's a very nice rifle indeed. 1:48 correct?Ray

Yes the standard twist rate for the 50 cal Hawken is 1:48.

I was thinking renegade, which doesn't have. you right the Hawkins do.it's a nice rifle.i really like the brown VS blue. Ray

That's why I went with a Renegade instead of the Hawken. I didn't need to find a LH model.

I like brown better than bluing too. Just like the original Hawken.
