.50 cal T/C hawkin
Was over at a friends this evening and he brought out a .50 cal Hawkins one of his customers gave to him. double trigger,brown barrel not blued and the stock had a monte carlo cheek pad built in the wood. anyone know if this is a special model? it was in very good shape also.will get pictures of it as soon as i can..Ray

Sounds like one of the kit guns.

Yes, that is a kit gun. Check the barrel and see if the serial number starts with a K.

Kit, or someone browned the factor barrel. Everything else is standard.

Also remove the barrel or the lock and you will see a "K" stamped into the wood also identifying it as a kit gun. But IMO there is no difference in value between a kit and production gun if the bluing was done by a smith (professional job) and the stock was finished correctly. I personally like the individuality of the kit guns. No 2 are alike - especially when it comes to stock finishes.

Yes the standard twist rate for the 50 cal Hawken is 1:48.

That's why I went with a Renegade instead of the Hawken. I didn't need to find a LH model.
I like brown better than bluing too. Just like the original Hawken. |
