54 Hawken

Does anyone make a .54 flintlock in a Hawken (Like TC)? I know Cabelas does but was wondering if anyone else did. I have another bonus from work coming and I cant deceided between a .54 Flint Hawken or a .54 Flint Kentucky pistol. I'm at a loss..

Lyman Great Plains Rifle http://www.lymanproducts.com/lyman/m...ains-rifle.php

or Lyman Trade Rifle http://www.lymanproducts.com/lyman/m...rade-rifle.php

I have a Lyman Trade Rifle and it is an excellent quality rifle. A very fast lock, and the rifle handles a number of different projectiles very well. I really like shooting the rifle. Cabela's also makes the Hawkins and it too is a good rifle. My friend shoots one and its a nice rifle.

If you want a Hawken that looks like the original Hawken, and don't want to spend a ton of money on a custom gun. You only have one option.

Lyman GPR. It comes with a PRB twist of 1-60. Unless you don't want to go all the way traditional. Then you can get the GPH which comes with a 1-32 twist.

You also have the option of getting a spare barrel, and have both.

Warning though. Like the real Hawken. It has the curved butt plate, and it's heavy.

I really like my .54 Great Plains Rifle flintlock. The curved butt plate is not an issue if the gun is shot from the top of the bicep as intended. But the Trade Rifle is a real nice gun also. You can't go wrong with either one.

Personally I would opt for the rifle instead of the pistol. A muzzleloading pistol is not too high on my list. I have a Lyman GPR only mine is the caplock. I have heard good things about their flint locks though.
