Finally Shot It

Got upstate for some Turk chasing last weekend and while turks didnt cooperate I got a chance to finally shoot the Elite 50 cal I bought and changed the stock and bedded the action (barrel still free float),Lehigh gen 2 installed . I decided to try some 300 gr Deep Curls with short blk sabots and the CCI 209 reg primers and 105gr BH powder,at 105 yds.I was a little disapointed with my results I thought Id do better. I was using some stacked shale to rest a sand bag on and was rather wobbly. Im sure when I get to the range with a bench my group will tighten up. I only had a limited supply of BH with me and didnt do any powder volume changes that may help also. Just before I got rained out I laid prone on the ground and shot 2 rounds one after the other no cool down at all and really concentrated on trigger pull and and got both shots 1" above bull and 1.5 apart. Rains came drenched targets so I didnt get to get a pic back at cabin, next outing I hope to get a couple of pics.Primers came out really dirty compared to my Accura maybe a different primer will help.

Shucks Gman, ya` can't expect bench rest groups from a stack of rocks. Two shots into an inch and a half inches at 105 yards from prone is pretty darn good though. Looks like you have a winner.

Win209's and Rem STS primers come out spotless in my .45 Elite with Gen II plug. I tried a Fed209A and it was filthy with blowback.

Try the Win209 for sure. They might be a little tight but they seal up good. If you use T7, the WinT7 primers fit really well too in mine. Neither of the CCIs did very well and the Fed209A was a little better.

This is an average of all of mine with a Lehigh. The Win209s were the best fit overall and great performance. Regular CCIs were the worst and all the others were kinda hit and miss.

BTW thats not bad at all for the first time and other limiting factors. If i can put 2 that close as fast as i can load, thats PLENTY good for a hunt because i will likely never need more.
