Water anybody Off Topic
If anybody needs any extra H2O you can find it in northeast Arkansas. In the last 4 days I've dumped 8.5 inches out of my rain gauge and up in southern MO they got over 15 inches of rain. The rivers are boiling out of there banks, several major highways are closed do to flooding. And tonight a levee broke up in Pocahontas AR on the black river, which is just 10 miles north of me, Weather service issued a flash flood warning for Lawrence and Randolph counties because of the break. Its really a mess around here. I havent retrieved two of my climbing stands down on the river, there probably under about 6-8 feet of water now. Not one of my finer moments there. Black river at Black Rock is at its 3rd highest flood stage ever and Pocahontas is at its highest. It sure has been a crazy spring around here.

Sorry to hear of the flooding. Maybe this will cheer you up.. We got 9 inches of new snow the past two days.. But now its raining and melting all my pretty snow. That means the black flies will be here soon.
I had to drive to the big city today. My Silverado had a check engine light that would not go out, and it kept telling me my gas cap was loose (which it was not). All the gauges said it was fine and the mechanic was 99% sure what it was and it was not a danger to the truck. It was a small micro thing a a wacker that measures pressure and stuff for the computer. It was out, they replaced it. Truck is fine. I wonder how I ever got by, back back in the 60's with a carburetor, no injectors, and no computer on the engine to tell me I forgot to close my passenger door. Of course I used to fix those cars with a twelve pack of cold ones, and with the help of buddies back then. Now you need a degree to learn how to hook all the electronic thing a ma whizzes up to the car. But hey On Star will tell me when it needs and oil chance (lord knows we are too busy to look at the sticker in the window as a reminder) and can unlock it if I ever decide to lock it... |
We only got 7 inches here , flooded two of my food plots, the white clover and the forage oats; hope it does not wipe them out it is a bit late to replant. The rifle range is a mess can't do any thing about it till the water goes down.On top of everything else the halfwits in control of the hunting want to shoot an unbelievable amount of does this year.

:arms: It's snowing again... :barmy: We only got a couple inches last night, but it is still snowing. Everything is nice and clean again, and the ground is all firmed up. Although it is kind of cold. Only 33šs outside. Then even more good news.. I carried out a bucket of ash from the wood stove and there across all my back yard were VERY FRESH :deer: tracks.
Then the bad news. Come in the house, get the fire going and read about all the deaths due to tornado activity in the country. This sure has been a strange spring so far. My heart really goes out to tornado victims. I had one go over my house last year. It yanked out more trees then I care to remember but someone was watching over me.. it never took a shingle off any of the buildings here. But that is nothing to compare with these families that loose loved ones, and everything they ever owned... Lee.. sorry to hear about the condition of your end of the world. The shooting range is unusable? I hope the shooting withdrawal symptoms are not too severe. |
We haven't had a drop of rain in almost a month. But a hot humid S.W. wind has been blowing off the Gulf of Mexico for the last week. That's providing a lot of moisture for the fronts moving into the South Eastern states. I'm worried about the clover in my food plots drying up. Have to water my tomatoes and peppers every three days. Average temp over the last two weeks in the low 80's.
I too feel for the people affected by floods and tornadoes. Never had tornado problems, but I know all about flooding. The damage it does in heartbreaking. Can't fight nature. All you can do is roll with the punches. |
High of 59 degrees, sunshine, and no wind today.
I'm careful in choosing where I live. |
hang in there Dave, I think spring will make it to use by JULY maybe?
