Shipping from Harvester

Does anyone know how much shipping is from Harvester? I was thinking about ordering some PT Golds and maybe sabots from them, but I can't find anywhere that says how much they charge to ship. I really want to try them but if it's too much I'll stick with 270 gr. Gold Dots.

nchawkeye 04-20-2011 02:42 AM

It's going to depend upon where you are...Add to the cart and then proceed to check out, it will tell you before you confirm the order...

Rogo 04-20-2011 03:54 AM

I paid a total of $38.00 for 50 sabots along with 50 260gr PT Golds bullets. When you buy from them buy enough and the shipping is better.

SuperKirby 04-20-2011 05:37 AM

I thought it looked kind of expensive. I found Gold Dots locally finally at $16.50/50 for the 270 gr. Perhaps I will stick with them. On the other hand, I still have almost a hundred XTP's in 250 and 300 gr. I should probably shoot up.

Just signed up and checked what it would be. $13.88. As much as I want to try the PT Golds that's not going to happen.

Have any of you noticed... shipping costs are killing these internet companies. I was going to purchase from Midway USA on a simple order and discovered that while the local store was a little more for the same thing, I saved money because of the shipping. I know a lot of the stores have little to no control about shipping, but I think others are using it as a cash cow in order to make just a little more money.

I have noticed that. Those who I have asked about it tell me the gas prices are driving up the cost. As apposed to raising the cost of the product, they are raising the cost of shipping in hopes it will go back down which is easier than repricing their entire inventory. Whether or not that's true, I can't confirm. My industry (insurance) does not work with shipping goods.

I does bring up a good point though. Do the math before making purchases. Most of the time I can find deals locally that are cheaper when you factor in shipping. Just keep in mind tax as well.

Gm54-120 04-20-2011 06:32 AM

Thats why i have been getting stuff from my local Grafs. He will sell me the same items for less than Harvester directly and the tax is less than the shipping costs. I only have to wait until he has a large enough order to buy directly also but getting sabots for $4.95/50 is worth the wait.

These companies are ripping us off. small items such as bullets can be shipped in a flat rate box. both the USPS and UPS have flat rate shipping.most companies choose not to use it and make additional revenue from the items there selling. $13.00 to ship a box of bullets is highway robbery plain and simple. keep in mind that $4 a gallon gas if you to travel to get those items.

Thankfully my local Grafs is about 5 miles from home and i get 34mpg or 50mpg if i take the motorcycle. ;)

flounder33 04-20-2011 11:54 AM

We can't drive motorcycle year around up here in the Northland.:wink: I figure it costs about 60 cents a mile to drive when you add everything up. The nearest places that have anything at all are twenty or more miles away from me so, in most cases, even with the high shipping I am better off buying online. My desire to support local businesses despite their higher prices might make me buy locally though.

In a .45 cal or .50 cal? The Barnes TEZ is a fantastic bullet and shoots well from my rifle. the PT's seem like a little cheaper alternative.Ray

MountainDevil54 04-20-2011 02:39 PM

.50cal

I havent bothered with a 45cal due to mainly having a deer and elk tag in my pocket and 50cal being minimum for elk per colorado rules.

SuperKirby 04-21-2011 05:26 AM

I've thought about just buying from Grafs but don't really want to just buy the 12 packs. If they had the 30 packs I would. Has anyone tried the not PT Scorpions? Or does anyone know of anywhere that sells the PT Golds in bulk and ships cheaper?

ronlaughlin 04-21-2011 06:04 AM

Out of curiosity, i checked shipping costs of 260g PT bullet from Harvester.

One 50 bullet package would cost me $10.45
Two 50 bullet package would cost me $11.34
Three 50 bullet package would cost me $11.86
Four 50 bullet package would cost me $12.23
Five 50 bullet package would cost me $12.66

PM me your mailing address, and i will send you 10 260g PT bullet for my cost, which i am guessing will be about $7. This cost will be the cost for the bullet, envelope, and postage. This doesn't include cost of my labor, or cost of wife labor, or fuel, which will be gratis.

These PT bullet are the most accurate i have ever used in my rifles. One day soon i hope to shoot them into juice jugs, and thereby, compare them to other bullet's performance. This will decide me, if i will use them on critters, this coming season.

$9.99 a 12 pack w/crushed rib sabots. Cheapest way to see if they will shoot from your gun however I already know they shoot great in Triumphs.

Bulk sales only through Harvester.

OK i see them now lol. i just missed them first time around. I read a article by Tony Bridges saying that he shoots the .451 PT .260& .300 naked out of a .45 cal.with excellent accuracy. he grips the bullet with a pair of pliers and taps the bottom on a hard surface so it expands enough to engage the rifling on the way down.i was amazed at the velocity he was getting shooting them naked.Ray
