Ahhhhh! Scope pooped out today

I took my nephews wolf out this after noon with the 3 basic bullets we shoot, and at 75 yards i was punching some really good groups with 100gr BH209 and the 300gr Powerbelt Platinums. Every darn 3rd shot would throw off target badly though!

After i got everything adjusted i figured, take it inside scrub her nice and clean and then this evening when the temp is a lot cooler, take a few shots and get all 3 into the hole.

So i go outside, set all my stuff up, new target, load the gun, sit down, look through the scope and the freakin cross hairs are pointed way high up in the scope!

This scope has always had a rattle to it in the rear section of the scope. Well what ever is back there, popped loose and now has to be returned for replacement to bushnell.

Just when you have something going good, it breaks!

Was that the Wally World $50.00 model?

MountainDevil54 04-15-2011 03:48 PM

yep. It always had a rattle in it and what ever it was, gave up today.

Looks like i will just send it back to them for replacement and maybe guy my nephew something else for a scope.

I have always had excellent luck with Bushnell and their customer service.

When I was very young, I purchased a rifle that had a Herter's brand scope on it. Every time you'd shoot it, the horizontal cross hair would fall down. You could of course crank it back up to the center, but it was junk. The strange part was the bullet would hit right on the vertical cross hair line, on target. I contacted Herter's and they told me they were sorry to hear of my misfortune.

I actually was forced to hunt with that rifle for one day, as the rifle had no sights. It broke at the deer camp. That opening morning I shot a deer with that rifle. The deer hit the center of the scope at 20 yards, and I pulled the trigger.

try a discounted upgrade

When you send your scope in, ask Bushnell about a discounted replacement. When my 2nd Banner bit the big one they offered me any scope that they sell at 30-40% off suggested retail. This may be a great opportunity for you to upgrade without dishing out too many $'s. I ended up getting Trophy XLT's to replace both of my Banners. I still haven't tried the DOA250 that went on my Optima yet. I got distracted by... TURKEY SEASON! :) :) :)

I have never ever had a Scope go bad ever. I still have some 25year Old Tasco's and Bushnells that still work great, some were less than $30. Anything can go wrong anytime with anything

oh shoot i thought i updated this.

I did find the rattle. The rear lens popped loose and thats what is rattling around and why the cross hairs looked off. If i push the lens up tight, everything looks normal. No way i can fix that so, its up to them.

Same here. All except my 30 year old $10.00 Tasco on my .22 gave up on me last year. You just couldn't see through it anymore. So I bought a new one. They cost $15.00 now.
