Open sight day with CVA Optima
Not bad! This was my second go around after the sun went behind the mountain and i was able to see my target better. Certainly still need the new glasses to help me out though.
CVA Optima , 295gr HP Powerbelt, 100gr Blackhorn209, CCI 209M primers @ 100 yards. I did not use my fancy shooting rest either, i used the Caldwell tack driver bag rest, laid in on the ground and i laid down to shoot. I think that Vanguard bipod will be excellent for this kind of shooting when i get her. ![]() The ghost ring rear and globe front sight made things a lot more easier IMO as i could see my entire target. But she looks ready to go as far as i am concerned. |

i hardly ever shoot lead anymore but i may just have to order some of Dans bullets. Years ago he casted me some 390?ish grain great plains conicals for my winchester x150.

MD, what brand/manufacturer did you end up going with for your open sights? Looks good. I am thinking about putting a peep sight on my old T/C Black Diamond just for the heck of it .
|
Real good shooting for open sights at 100 yards.
|
You might as well give me all your scopes. You shoot open sights better.
|
That is some amazing shooting with that open sight. When I shoot a peep, I have to be very careful about finding the right time of day when the shadows and sun glare get off the sight. But I found that a good peep sight is very accurate.
|
The problem with open sights is at distance the front sight covers too much of the target. Even a peep doesn't help that.
I've filed down my front sight on my Renegade and Hawken to paper thin, but it's still hard to have the accuracy of thin cross hairs on a scope. |
