Not a good day

Took the Optima out and after 3 shots with 120GR BH209 and 110GR BH209 with the crush rib - 260 PT Gold combo, it was time to pack up and call it a day. The crush ribs just load to easy in the rifle, i'll need a thicker sabot for this bore.

My brother on the other hand, had a great day with his V2 Accura with 120gr BH209 - 260gr PT Gold, Crush Rib, CCI 209M.

153 yards.

Under 3/4" group!

Strange, because I know your bore is tighter than mine, and the PT/CR loads perfect in mine.

Confusing.

MountainDevil54 03-20-2011 11:32 AM

thats why i dislike sabots, you have to find the right one to get the job done.

Thors!!!!!!

Cmon Jon lol,all the money you spend on PB's,a pack of crushed ribs and a pack of MMP-24's will cover 95% of the muzzle loaders out there.want to cover all of them, throw in a pack each of MMP12 and some smooth harvesters. if the crush rib was to loose, i have money says the 24's will be perfect...Ray

Muley his rifle has had a lot of rounds through it.which may explain it. still MMP- 24's will more than likely do the trick.

Shot with a guy that had a new Wolf, it was as tight if not tighter than my Triumph.. ray

MountainDevil54 03-20-2011 02:30 PM

New wolf shouldnt be under .500"

Muley Hunter 03-20-2011 02:38 PM

I'll tell you guys why I said that.

FG..What size Thors do you use in your gun?

MountainDevil54 03-20-2011 02:40 PM

.500 fits perfect in all our CVA's.

That's what I thought. My CVA's were the same.

So, my Omega uses .501, and I have to use the 300gr, because the 250gr is too loose. I can actually get a .502 down the bore.

Wouldn't you agree that your bore is tighter than mine?

That's why i'm confused that the PT's are loose.. They were perfect in mine.

MountainDevil54 03-20-2011 02:54 PM

TC's doesnt have a standard size in their bores though, anywhere from .598 all the way up to .502 was normal. Although in the past year or 2, the tighter bores seem pretty common. One guy on another forum, heck you know this one LOL, cant even fire 2 shots with BH209 before he has to clean his barrel because it gets so tight.

This Optima has well over 2,000 shots through her and so im sure its a bit looser than the Accura V2's.

She just dont like the crush ribs for some reason or the other. I agree though, the hph 12 or 24's should do the trick.

Muley Hunter 03-20-2011 03:04 PM

Got any .502 Thors left? See if you can get one down the bore.

This forum is so slow. Sometimes it takes forever to load a page.

MountainDevil54 03-20-2011 03:12 PM

Not when you can block their ad's LOL.

I'll see what if i have some in 501 or 502

MountainDevil54 03-20-2011 03:24 PM

ok for fun i decided to i will take 3 shots tomorrow with my nephews wolf at 100 yards. Well i loaded up just now, pushed the 260 pt gold with crush rib down the bore with One finger. The Optima - Wolf are going to need some tighter sabots to keep up with the V2.
