Wolverine and conicals

Well i have a man size stock coming for the youth model Wolverine we have.i want to make this a dedicated conical shooter. i bought some Pyrodex this afternoon to shoot with the conicals. was wondering what the average bore diameter is on these rifles with the GMB barrels? i want to order some .460 bullshop conicals, i was also thinking of trying some .420 gr bullshops. i have a really nice NEGC peep sight i took off the Triumph when i scoped it. that will be going on the Wolverine also.. any input would be greatly appreciated... i will be starting with 70 gr pyrodex and working up for the sweet spot powder charge... I had a Wolverine 209 that I shot 460gr conicals out of. Bullshop .503's were too big however NE .503's fit perfectly and shot great. If I were to order Bullshops I would get some .501's and 502's for a Wolverine.

:DBetter invest in a recoil pad.:D If it is anything like my wolverine it will have quite the recoil, especially with a 460gr

I have shot some 460 NE's out of it already, recoil wasn't all that bad.. what are your thoughts on a 420 bullshop? and how accurate and what load did you use? Ray

I have not looked, but if the 420's are the UC Short - they are accurate but were designed to be a scaled back 460 grain to shoot from a 1/48 twist..

OK now I have to go look...

The 445 is the UC short...

I have shot a lot of the 460's from a lot of diffenrent barels - awesome performing bullet.

I also ordered a bunch of the 400 grain LGP's - they shot very well also and I thought they would make a great whitetail medicine, but I goota admit I like the 460's the best. Cayugad is partial to the 500 grain Bull Shop - but I don't think I will ever get to hunt anything that might be as big as that conical...

i used 90gr 777 . The recoil felt pretty strong so I switched to saboted bullets and I haven't even shot it in quite a few years. It just sits around . I should give it to one of my kids. It is a very accurate gun

You are correct I am looking at an old image of the Bull Shop line...

Don't get wads get shot cards...

WAD-510-A.510" diameter, ideal for .50 caliber rifles, .125" over powder card, 1000$7.50

Look for WAD-510-A over powder card on page 2

Those are nearly identical to the CircleFly Nitro Wads for shotguns IIRC but much cheaper. I like them better than felt too. Veggy wads are cheap also but a lot thinner. Lubed felt are way over priced. Dry aren't too bad.
I think these are the .130s

They are made by Circle Fly...

Underclocked put me on to them along time ago. They keep the lube from contaminating the powder and the powder explosion from melting the bottom of the lead bullet....

Yep, they hold up to heat much better. They can even handle smokeless heat levels. I should have said, Buffalo Arms are more expensive than Track of the Wolf. I didn't realize it was the same brand.
