Hey Semi, you got to be one tanacious dude pal. I would have been happy with test target #1 and #2. But no you had to keep goig and have more fun then was authorized!

This was my first attempt at PRBs in my Big Boar .58. Originally I was in the process of finding a good conical for my gun and through this in to put up against the conical results for a comparison:

Now you got me wanting to get my butt out to the range and start figuring what I should be shooting in my .58 TC. This will qualify as fun time and I will put it on my honey do list for me.

That looks mighty fine rafsob. What powder/charge did you use for that target? How did it compare to the conicals?

I've never even considered conicals for my .58. My 1:70 twist barrel wouldn't likely shoot them for squat anyway. But I would like to get a handful of those .58 caliber 440 grain Lee REAL's to try just for the fun of it. I shot my first doe with a ball from the .58 this past season. She dropped, dragged herself about six feet with her front legs, and died in ten seconds. Complete pass through, broadside at 55 yards.

As for the experimenting, I have a good shooting "go to" hunting load for every one of my guns. But I still can't help but play around with other combinations just to see what happens. Silly, sometimes frustrating, but I love it.

As to the charge on that target load, I think it was 80 grs. My barrel is a 1 in 48" twist rate. I am still looking for a good bullet and I will be getting back on this project looking for the ultimate conical for my gun. There is a wealth of conicals to try in my gun and it will be a load of fun shooting them.

As to hunting loads, I reload for everything I shoot with the exception rimfires. On centerfire, I carry commerical loads so some landshark doesn't try to make an issue of my evil reloads.

Hey, thanks. Guess I've been spending too much time at that other forum. I've got this bug to build a flinter and they are a great source of information on the fundamentals. However, my build will be any thing but PC/HC so one does have to be careful when you ask for advice. There are some interesting egos over there.

I did make the mistake of registering over there when I first set up my TC Hawken with a GM .50 with a 1:28 twist and started asking questions about sabots. I thank Semisane for quietly suggesting I come over here for a while.

Paul
