With all the talk lately about these I decided to order a box of each, 250 & 300gr. I'll try the 250's in the Accura and the 300's in my Savage.

I'm going to Bass Pro in Springfield this weekend and I'm gonna pick up a box of the 300gr to try in my rifles.

Im curious how well they shoot in the Savage too. I hope the recessed (concave) base doesn't cause any issues with smokeless loads. The should be ok with powders that produce less pressure but book powders might spike a bit fast for them. I never seen anyone on Dougs show any groups with them. I want to try the 458-325gr Hot-Cor but i want to see the base first. |

The ONLY reason i mention it is because on Dougs i cant find a single person using them in the Savage. There might be a reason why such as blown sabots. Just slight variations in the bullet base design can make a huge difference. The new Barnes 195gr "flat base" vs "radius base" is a good example. The highly prefer the new flatter base Barnes. |

Thats really surprising too since the 250gr GD is one of the best shooting bullets ive tried and its not very powder sensitive in my guns. Anything from 80-110gr shoots great for me.

+ 1. Now going to try the .300gr. Can't sleep at night waiting for deer season, in 9 months, 19 days, so many hours/seconds LOL. |
