I can only imagine what the dad said, heck I burned the house down partially when I was 6 playing with matches the old man had on the counter and my ass hurt for months afterwards. Thank goodness for a smoke alarm which woke him up, he came running out in his underpants to an awaiting gulf of flames to the back door curtains on fire yelling and screaming. He got the curtains down and tossed in the yard to put out. The back door window broke and the ceiling and that whole area was burned out pretty good. My only firfighting efforts was a small cup of water to put it out. My brother who was 4 stood there with his blanket just crying. I will never forget that but it could have been worse.

That was good. That was right up there with a Pat McManus story. And the funny part is that, being a rural youngin way back when, I can actually see myself doing something like that. But that kid was really stupid. Any good ol country boy knows that you only need 1 Lb of powder and a can of ether to take out a stump.
