Striped and blued
 

The barrel that came with the $30.00 Renegade I bought a little while ago looked as though someone had painted it. For the the last two days I have been taking all of the paint off and prepairing it to be blued. I blued it this morning and it came out looking real nice. Heck, it looks like it could almost pass for brand new to me.

That looks good. What kind of cold bluing did you use?

Thank you, it was Hoppe's gun blue. I've had it for more than 20 years. It's the same bottle I used to blue my TC Hawkins with when I got the kit. This barrel turned out 10 times better than the Hawkins did.

Although I never showed you the original condition of the $30.00 Renegade, and I regret that, I have shown you the Renegade with the .50 cal. GMB LRH Carbine on it. And I have shown you the refinished original chopped off .54 cal. TC barrel. So I thought I would show you the refinished chopped off .54 cal barrel on the stock. This is the original $30.00 Renegade after refinishing the barrel.



That sucker looks good doesn't it?
Now to see if she shoots.

By the way, when I bought the rifle it came with a broken aluminum arrow that was used as a ram rod and inserted in the ramrod receptical of the gun. The ram rod you see in the picture of the barrel is one I found in the trash can outside a sporting goods store. It was one of those extendable ram rods that was broken and the longest part of it turned out to be just the right size after a little modification. The hardest part of the modification was pounding a plastic arrow thing (ferule?) that a broad head screws into, into the cut off end. I can actually screw accessories into it if I like but the main purpose was to make the cut off end more solid and atractive.
