My new TC Hawken
Pictured below is my " new to me " TC 50 Hawken.
I bought it for $120 but the barrel is rusted and there was surface rust around the nipple. The surface rust cleaned right up and I'm working on the barrel. Lot's of good advice on barrel restoration has been received. I'll let you know how it goes. |
For $120.00 looks like you did real good.

Heck yeah. I'm expecting one in the mail any day now and I paid $200 which was still a good deal.

You need to turn yourself in to the police. You stole that rifle. What a deal. If you want to make a profit, it would be awful easy.

Another guy had a really nice TC Cougar for 400.00 |
Update on my "deal ".
The bore is really pitted. I've done the cleaning, the evapa-rust and given it the JB Treatment. The question now is... will it shoot with a pitted bore. Any suggestions for a starting load? |
I am thinking this one would be a good gun to put a NEW Green Mountain Fast twist barrel on. Ron

real nice wood grain, i'd strip it naked and get rid of the orange looking color and gloss finish.
I really like that brass though, it almost looks a copper color. |
Thanks for the ideas.
I called TC and customer service rep I talked to thought it was made in the late 70"s ( Serial # ). I'm going to try to get it to group with this barrel and if it won't shoot look a some options. A fast twist is not out of the question but I have a couple modern inlines and like the idea of a traditional. I hope it groups because having the original equipment is half the fun. P.S. I love the color. I think the pictures make it look more orange than it really does. |
