Aerolites
UPS just dropped off 4 packages of the new 250gr Aerolite Powerbelts and 4 packages of the 300gr Aerolites! Super excited to try these out tomorrow.
The new coating is super slick, the gas seal pops off a lot easier and smoother than they do on the Copper Series and Platinum series. My brother and i already decided to fill up fresh sand buckets and put them to the test tomorrow. |
Whipppeeeeeeeeeeee! they more money than the old ones ?
|
about the same price as the platinum.
builder, I know you think there are people that don't care about it, but there are some people that may be interested on the test MD maybe running on them. |

I will be watching the test, with interest. I used to use the lead 295 Power Belts a few years ago and liked them.
Was very diappointed with the newer PBs. :sad0064: |
http://www.oeoutfitters.com/scripts/...?idCategory=36 Here is one test that has been performed on the new PB Aerolite . i don't see much improvement over there old offerings. the bullet has no jacket of any kind. the real test will be to fire one of these bullets at 1800- 1900 fps at a target 20-50 yds away, which is where they have failed in the past. i am afraid this bullet will act very much like the old offerings, since there is no jacket plated or otherwise to keep it together.i am sure the longer bullet will "indeed" give it more accuracy.that is little consolation if it doesn't perform well at closer ranges.

Excuse my mistake on last post pulled the wrong link up. here is the correct one.http://www.modernmuzzleloader.com/ph...df5cb2d00e974c

:s2::s2: Hey builder. FrontierGander and MountainDevil are the same guy. Kinda like Clark Kent and Superman.
|
If it is a plain lead bullet, I may give it a try. The other plated bullets have been the ones with issues.
If they are not too expensive, I will give them a try. |

MD i really look forward to seeing the Aerolite put through the water jug test, the test that Ronlaughlin and others have done on various bullets!
|
i have a couple theses saved for packing with wet news paper. Just have to pick up some old paper from the post office.
![]() No expansion testing today, a fresh layer of 5" of snow on the ground and cold weather. Gettin bundled up now and heading to the range! Mistakenly loaded a 250 aerolite into the Optima and the rifles prefers heavier bullets so we will just have to see if it will shoot the lighter ones or not. |
Oh my god! Just got back off the range, the 250s with 100gr BH209 shoot freakin AWESOME. I first tried 90gr with them and it grouped roughly 2 1/2". Went up to 100 and i was biting my hand to make sure i wasnt dreaming! My Optima has never grouped well with a light weight powerbelt, always wanted the heavier bullets. A huuuuuge improvement in this rifle! Pictures will be coming as soon as we get the V2 on paper and see how she prints.

actually that aerolite looked great considering it was a 250 pushed by 110gr blackhorn and not shot into a controlled media. Carlos found it in a dirt berm on the range.
|
Okay heres the 90gr BH209 with the 250gr Aerolite @ 100 yards. I have to resize the other target with the 300's on it. In a rush to get changed and run over to new mexico to pick my nephew up.
![]() 3 shots from the Optima at 100 yards with the 250 Aerolite and 100gr Blackhorn209. Huuuge difference! 3 shots into a 1" square with room to spare inside the square. ![]() |
Now that looks promising for sure. Hope it performs a that level in the media tests. :groupwave:

Actually it looked a awful lot like the PB'S you tested with your tips addition.

Here yah go,Corey knew what i was talking about lol.http://frontiermuzzleloadin.powergui...45gr-powerbelt
|
Oh those were when i first started. I had to harden the inserts by dropping them into cold water right out of the mold. You see the final insert on the second row of pictures.
This is the hard lead insert bullet that was hardened properly. ![]() Then you'll see some experimenting with soft lead inserts which didnt turn out to be worth a darn. One guy i send close to 500 too, they killed i forget how many hundred deer with them, out to 200 yards and they all blew big holes into the deer out to 200 yards. So what were you saying? |
lol your not keeping up with the thread. what i said is the new Aerolite bullet once fired, looks a lot like your old PB's equipped with your tips/inserts. again if you read corey new what i was talking about!
|
Screw a golf shoe spike into one of them or a small allen bolt. LOL :D

To cold for that. Shooting into a water jug and seeing it explode doesnt show anything. I have to be able to recover the bullet in damp sand and when theres snow on the ground and the wind blowing, my hands aint going into damp sand searching for a bullet.
