Good job. A bit of a tip. I can understand your concern about your pan powder. Next year buy yourself a small jar of Powder Dry. This is an almost weightless powder that you mix with your pan powder and it absorbs moisture. It can and is also used by archers to repel water off their feathers. I don't know exactly what dry chemical it is but it works great.

Thanks everyone, it was definitely an enjoyable day in the field. I was very pleased with how my new rifle performed, both in speed and accuracy, I only wish I had judged the situation a little better to realize the doe was broadside. I can honestly say I hit exactly where I was aiming, I just aimed at the wrong spot. Oh well, it was still a killing shot so I really can't be too upset.

Bronko, I've never heard of Powder Dry, do you have any suggestions of where I can find it?

Hunting in the snow was a lot of fun. Even though I live in the lake effect snow belt, I've only taken two deer in the snow. This was the first with snowshoes and snow camo, and it really gave a different historical feeling to the hunt. Especially because it was my first stillhunted deer.
