300 Gr deep curls

My order of 300 gr deep curls came in today. i ordered the harvester long black sabots also. after looking at the sabots closely they don't appear to be crushed rib. now i am wondering if i can even get them down my Triumphs barrel. the .250 deep curls with the short CR sabot go down perfect.any of you using the 300 gr D C even use the long black sabots? Ray

heck i even got a 100 of the 295's for my 54 sidelock LOL. I cant wait to try those out. Never shot a 54 with a conical before so that will be fun for certain.

I think i may have some of the 300 DC's as well.

In my Triumph, i use only crush rib sabot. The black with 300g Deep Curl, and the green with 270g Deep Curl. The smooth Harvester are too tight to suit me, for the Triumph.

Didn't realize there are 2 length of crush rib. You can use them smooth sabot in a CVA or somethin' else.

Which ever sabot you use with the 250's will work just fine with the 300's. I use the HPH-24 in my Triumph but i also ran JB's through the bore. When i first got the rifle I could not even get the CR's down the bore....

I use the crushed ribs now and they load perfect with the .250 gr DC's.i just made a mistake ordering the long blacks, i didn't notice they were not CR sabots and was paying more attention to the fact they were for 300 gr bullets lol..i will order some more C R sabots and use the Lb's in the knight wolverine along with the 300 gr Dc's. as always Sabotloader.. thanks for the input..

Forgot to mention SAbotloader.I am hoping the 300 gr DC's will be accurate out to 200 yds, if not Barnes bullets here i come lol.i really need a bullet out west here that is accurate at longer distances. the .250 gr DC has proved to be accurate. as is the .250 gr Barnes TEZ bullet.i am in the heavier bullet corner still when it comes to say 150- 200 yd shots..can always practice with the Dc's and hunt with the barnes bullets.

I have shot the 300 DC's tp and beyomd the 299 yard mark. They do really well. I am OK with the 250-260 class bullet to 175 yards but even at 175 and beyond I really like the 300, although I would shoot the .458/275 grain Lehigh all day through the whole range 0f 10 to 200 yards....

what's the BC on the .458/.275 lehigh? and have you shot them from your triumph? Ray

With the 300gr DeepCurls, using the Harvester long black sabot gives me better accuracy out of my Omega X7 than using either the short blacks or the crush ribbed sabots, but man, they are tough to load. I don't know if I would used them in the field since I have to really lean on my range rod to get them down.

If you can load them ok in your Triumph, they should be great.

Ray, I have shot them from my Triumph, I use the regular Orange MMP HPH-.47-.458/50 sabot. But remember that i have ran the JB process on my bore. If you can load a .452/300 in a regular black HPH or Harvester - you should be able to load the orange and the .458

mike

Don't some people use the Crushed rib 451-452 sabot to load the .458 bullets? Ray
