The wifes ML
Sent my wife's optima back to CVA for repairs. If some recall from a previous thread her hammer wouldnt pull back and trigger wouldnt pull. I sent it back the week before Christmas and got it back this week, not a bad turn around and it seems to work fine. CVA added a letter in there that said, the reason the for trigger block malfunction was because the breechplug had been modified, drilled out and that allowed more blowback and damaged the trigger block. Thats kind of funny seeing how I have never modified anything on the rifle. I bought it new 2 years ago marked down at wal-mart. Anyway they fixed the trigger and replaced the breechplug and the turn around time I thought was great.

Interesting, good customer service turn around time but they blamed you for something they can not prove.
|
what lead them to believe the BP was modified in the first place? did they explain how they came to this conclusion? glad to hear they made good on the problem.
|
maybe the flash hole was eroded and they figured it had been modded? That or primer blow by from the head spacing being loose.
|
So if you open up a flash hole to the "recommended" .035 for BH209, they can claim it caused the failure? Isnt the Optima Elite designed to swap CF barrels also and the higher pressures they produce?
I would think a gunsmith could tell the difference in a modded plug vs a eroded plug and ive heard the OEM plugs can last for thousands of shots without any signs of erosion? Interesting |
Well it is nice they fixed it and all but you'd sure think they could tell the difference between a worn breech plug and a modified one. I would send them a letter back and tell them that for their information, that rifle was never modified. And their reason for the problem might need some further looking into.

What are you guys talking about, FG has already posted:
for the life of me, ive yet to wear out a flash hole on any plug LOL. 3,000 shots on the accuras original plug, well over 1500 shots on my Optimas plug which "should" have eroded faster due to the .035" flash hole i use, some say. |
remember the guy going around telling me and busta that bh209 couldnt be used with conicals because they load to easy? That same person is now back tracking and saying a loose fitting projectile doesnt matter ;)
Either a worn out flash hole or just simple primer blow by. I know when i used the factory firing pin set up primer blow by was a mess. Ive since taken care of it. |
CVA plugs never errode - it had to be modified.... |
Her gun wasn't the elite just the plain Optima. The breechplug wasn't eroded either I clean them really good after shooting and the gun was only 2 years old. I dont know why they think I modified the breechplug, I assure y'all I didnt. Kind of surprises me that would fix it when they thought I had modified the gun. I'm glad they fixed it, very good customer service.
