so here is a new thread...45 omega?
I think that I came across an old thread about it awhile ago, but it didn't have much info and I guess that now it no longer exists! I'm looking into to getting an Omega and I came across a .45 Omega for a decent price. I have always kind of wanted a .45, but my concern is that with the normally overly tight TC barrel and limited .45 sabot choices I might run into some trouble. does anybody have any experience with a .45 TC Omega or any .45 TC?

mmp makes 45/357, 45/400.harvester makes 45-400 sabots, bullets XTP,SST,speer, lehigh just to name a few. then you have conical option also. if i had the extra cash, i would buy a .45 cal.would be a lot of fun.. Ray

Sabot choices dont seem to be a big deal. Most folks like either the MMP tan or the Harvester light blue smooth. Yours will tell you which one it likes. In a tighter bore like a .451 they both seem to work fine depending on the load.
Plenty of 180-200gr bullets and some start at about $18 per 100 instead of 50 or less. Cheap total jacketed 180-220gr plinkers are about $65 per 500. Nosler has 180gr JHPs for $40/250.
Shoot XTPs and GoldDots for normal use and Lehigh/Barnes/SSTs for higher end loads. Ive shot conicals upto 360gr in a 1-28 with excellent accuracy...actually my best 100 yard group is with a 360gr conical. It went into just over a half inch.
Velocity is usually a little higher in a 45 vs a 50 with the same amount of powder and bullet weight. Mine will get a 250-260gr moving 1950fps with about 100grs of loose.
Whats not to love?
