wedge pin
So I put the new .50 cal. GM barrel on the old .54 Renegade and the wedge pin is so loose it just falls out. Does anyone else have a similar problem with the Green Mountain IBS barrel? What should I do?

Bend the wedge pin just a pinch. If you look at the wedge pin it is not centered. Flip it to see if one side is tighter. If not like I said put it in a vise and put a tiiny bendin it. Ron

Bending the wedge pin itself is a much easier fix and can be restraightened if bent too much. I much prefer that over bending the barrel lug. Just lay the wedge pin on a hard flat surface (concrete floor) and tap it in the center. Check fit, retap if necessary.

I've gone both ways. Usually bend the pin if a problem arises at the range because it's quick and easy. At home, adjustments are made to the barrel lug. There are advantages to adjusting the lug. If all of your barrels use a straight pin you can replace pins without further adjustment. Also, there's no "up" or "down" with a straight pin.

So I take it this is not an uncommon problem. Here's what I did. I took a two sided piece of tape with a piece of patch material stuck on one side and trimmed it to the size of the flat of the stock. I placed the tape with the patch material at the muzzle end of the lug notch in the stock. Thus raising the barrel and the bottom of the lug a fraction of an inch and tightening up the fit of the wedge pin. Please, tell me what you think. Maybe this will throw the barrel out of level and affect accuracy?

Just buy another wedge pin......Bend one to fix your problem and keep the other normal
