no bang no smoke

I went out on the first day of Iowa's late m-loader season to sit in my stand. I had an antlerless tag for the county North of me. I'd seen lots of deer in this timber and was feeling lucky. But by 4:30, I was wondering if I'd even see a deer. At 4:40 I spotted one and then several more appeared. A small one stood near me, but I felt it was too small to shoot. Then a 6 pt basket rack buck came in. Finally a nice doe came into range.
I put my sight on the vitals and squeezed the trigger and hardly heard the shot. No boom! There was no smoke. The deer ran off.........
But everything felt so good! So I waited a bit and went to where the deer was standing when I shot. About 12 inches of snow. Hair! Blood!

Gotcha! In Iowa a bow is legal in our second m-loader season and I was hunting an area where I had to use my bow. The doe only ran about 60 yards and will taste so good.:happy0157:

I had a theory for the 'no bang - no smoke' you were posting - but guess you do not need it...

congrats on the harvest.....

What kind of rifle and powder do you shoot? Congratulations on the deer.

If you mean for this deer, my "rifle" is a Hoyt.

Seriously, I shoot an Encore my wife bought me for our 25th anniversery back in 1999. I use Triple7 pellets (2) and started using Barnes 250's this year. I know I could fine tune a load to shoot better, but a 2 inch group @ 100 yards is OK for me.
What that copper bullet did to the forkhorn I shot this year was truely amazing!
