Lyman Flintlocks
 

Me and my dad do alot of hunting together, bow hunting, rifle hunting, shotgun hunting, and i wanted to extend it alittle more. He already has a lyman .54 cal flintlock rifle and i asked for a flintlock for christmas. Since i knew his friend had one and he was selling used for a good price i told m dad to check it out, i know its a lyman but not sure if its a .45 .50 or .54, so tell me about lyman rifles and how they are, ive been on flintlock hunts with him and to the range and they seem to shoot nice with the lead balls he uses. so inform me about the brand please

The Great Plains rifles are great round ball shooters. The Deerstalker I believe has a faster twist and will shoot PRB and Saboted bullets or conicals. They are well made guns with the GPs probably a bit better quality.

Lyman flintlocks are very good quality for a production rifle. They have a good fast lock and their frizzen is real hard. Mine is a great sparker. And both my .50 and .54 trade rifle is a very good shooter.
