Monday it begins

Finally the late 'primative' season starts here in PA on Monday. Flintlocks only and > than .44 cal. I will be taking the T/C Hawken with the 21" GM LRH .50 cal out. I am off all next week to chase them. Problem is that although the rifle is shooting great I don't foresee much success. Me and my friend have been walking around several of the areas we hunt. There is about 2" of fresh snow and we are seeing very few deer tracks but a lot of coyote tracks.
If I get a chance, I will be trying to knock off one of those dogs.

Monday I will be going back to my hunt camp for the last few days of our season. We have a two week ML season in early November and this will be gun season for us. It will include both sexes and I am hoping to fill the freezer with at least one more deer.

Good luck in your endeavers and Merry Christmas!

In the late season in PA, it's Flintlocks only. A few years ago they did legalize saboted bullets. No scopes either.

Now in October PA early ML season you can use Inlines and harvest Doe only.

Breech - ML .44 cal or larger, flinlock ignition and "buckhorn" type sights. In lines and percussions can only be used duing the early ML season in October and for anterless deer only. You can also use them during the regular firearms season.

I actually wish we had a true primitive season here in Virginia. I may take my FL with me this year. Why not!
