Didn't feel right
I let a doe walk tonight.About a 100 yard shot.I had my cross hairs on her but let her go.The shot just didn't feel right.

I commend you for listening to your internal brain. Most hunters would have blasted away, and then worried about whether the shot was right or not. If you did not feel comfortable with the shot presented.. you did the right thing. Way to go!

The shot was broadside and clear.I just wasn't comfortable taking the shot.I've already taken 3 small deer and I'm just trying to top off the freezer.

well, just wait and take what you feel comfortable with. No need to end your hunt early. Stick it out and maybe you'll get the big'n

about 3 years ago I let an 4 pointer walk at 25yrds, I did not like the how he was facing me. so I know the feeling. I just starting shooting muzzleloaders at the time. if I had the same chance with the same gun today. Hell yes I would take the shot.
if your not comfortable with the shot, don't take it no matter the distance. |
IMO you did the right thing. Muzzleloading is a 1-shot deal, and if the shot doesn't feel good, don't take it. Bowhunting has really helped me with this - you really have to wait for the right shot, and I've carried this over to muzzleloading as well. Good job!

excellent call. you should never take a shot you are not confident with. I applaud you.

Good for you.
