Look at the Vortex line, very good scope, crystal clear and very sharp images, best warranty in the business and the price is very good as well.

Yep, the Viper line that's on clearance right now is very very hard to beat for the price. It's the way I'd go. IMO the other two great deals going on in the scope world right now is the Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9x40 on sale at many places for $199, and if you want something even cheaper, the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 on sale at Cabela's for $99.

Ive got the Redfield Revolution 2x7x33 with Accurange.

Best sub $150 scope ive tried. Mine was about $130 but i got a nice discount with the Cabelas card.

Good FOV
Nearly Leupold VXII quality glass for almost half the cost.
Made in USA with lifetime warranty.
RedField is now owned by Leupold.
Great eye relief.
Fairly light and compact for a variable.

I put it on my GMB54-120 and its held up to 120gr charges of BH209 and 385gr bullets in a 6.5lb carbine. Many shots with roughly 40ftlbs of calculated free recoil or more and its still going strong.

I like them so much im putting them on my 52cal LRH and Savage smokeless ML.

Vortex is the brand name. Their model names are Crossfire, Diamondback, and Vipers in order of worst to best. They also have a Razor too, but I'm not familiar with that. I think that's the highest end one, but I don't know for sure.

The Vipers are the ones on clearance that are the best deals going right now. The Diamondback is a step down from the Viper, but still a step up from the Redfield you were consider. It would normally get my recommendation in that price range, but right now you can get a Viper which is a lot better for a similar price. Here is a great writeup to read in sub $200 scopes
http://opticstalk.com/inexpensive-sc...opic21176.html

The Viper wasn't included as it wasn't on clearance at the time, but it's even better than the Diamondback.

I haven't looked through the vortex scopes, but about 2 months ago i purchased the diamond back 8x42 binos and all i can say is wow! $ 200.00 shipped to my door.and the no questions asked policy on all thier products is a major plus. that being said i am still a nikon scope fan, never had a single problem with them.. crisp and clear optics.
