Recovered Nosler
 

Went to my stand before first light.25 deg with a slight breeze.Saw nothing and heard no shots at all.About 8:45 it started to snow.As the woods were getting white,and it was snowing harder,I decided to resort to one of my favorite tactics,still hunting during a snow storm.As I was moving along an old logging road,I saw movement down hill.4 deer were working their way across in front of me.I dropped to one knee and took aim on the lead doe.Hit her behind the shoulder,and she dropped on the spot.260 gr Nosler went through 2 ribs,both lungs and stopped under the skin in front of the hind quarter. First Nosler I have ever recovered and it weighed 251gr on my powder scale.Perfect shape with just a small amount of the front lead missing.

Sorta like this.... except when iwas cleaning the bullet up the smal piece of lead in the nose fell out....



Here is a .458/300 with the lead remaining in the nose...



They certainly do the job on the inside of the animal - don't they

Pretty much like that.Most of my lead was still there,and measuring across the petals,I got .752,.756,and.792".I sure am glad I laid in a supply before they stopped production.

Me too, i stocked up from Wideners and i think they still have more. I got several boxes of each caliber and weight they have/had on sale.

I bought mine from Nosler last year.They sold 10 packs with .54 sabots,for $4.95 each.I bought 10 packs. Probably will not shoot 50 more deer in my lifetime,so I am set.

I shot a buck this year with the 260 nosler. It went clean thru part of the spine to the heart and out. The deer never mover again. I tried digging in the ground for the bullet but could not find it. wideners is still selling them for 23 or 24 bucks for a bulk box. I have 250 but may get a few more boxes.
