Anyone Ever Try Barnes XPB Bullets?

Decided to try some other bullets. Stuff had to come from Cabela's because they would be free. :s2: Had to be .44 caliber because i have a thousand or so sabots in .44 caliber. Wanted some Gold Dots but Cabela's had none. Tried for Partitions but they did not have any .44 caliber. Settled for the Barnes XPB 225 grain bullets in .44 caliber.

Anyone ever use the 225 grain .429 Barnes XPB bullet on deer?

Ive tried several XPBs but not that one. Im betting it will be a really good combo in the correct sabot. I dont shoot many 44x50 loads but i will be after the season is over and that bullet is high on my list to try out.

Many of the XPBs are just Expander MZs with a cannelure, so they should perform in a similar fashion. Cabelas usually has the 45cal versions in 225-250gr in stock also with the big hollow point. The ones for 460S&W are "pointy" like Spitfires but without the boat tail.
I knurl Barnes now just for a little insurance but its probably isnt needed most of the time. Works great though if they are a bit loose and you dont have any tighter sabots.

I think XPB'S are one of the best Barnes makes for Muzzleloaders. The 275grn did an Awesome job on a Russian Boar.

I used to use the 50-275gr in a 54x50 sabot for years. To this day it is still one of my favorite bullets for a 54cal.
