bullshop conicals: which one?

Have heard so much good things about Bullshops, I am going to order a couple hundred, probably in 420 or 460 gr for elk.

I assume I should get the 0.504, but should I order them in pure lead or get an alloy, if so, how much alloy?

Also, anyone have picutres of a UC short vs. a NEX bullet?

thanks

Just my thoughts but i use the .503/460 MT NEx in my GM barrels. I think this might be best fit for the Omega, but i am not sure.

As I remember the 460 has the best BC of the group (.202).

From the GM-LRH I shoot 90 grains of T7-2f, using a .125X.510 shot card to separate the bullet from the powder.

The 460 grain is a hard one to beat. They just shoot really good. But the next order I want to try some of the 500 grain N373. Depending on my rifle I order them in all sizes.

Pure lead?

And he lists the 460 NEx as a 0.504. My Omega likes the 0.503 Thors, but figured I might do good with the .504s since I like shooting BH 209 and want a snug fit?

Also, sounds like they do not come pre-lubed? Do you buy his lube or use your own? Do you prelube them to carry in the field, if so , how do you carry them in your possibles bag so the lube is protected and doesn't melt?

For me - yes pure lead...

He will size then to your order... the biggest he can go is .5045 - and he can size on down from that.

The come pre lubed. And easy way to carry them is put a couple of them in Lanes loading tubes and then just take them as you need them. If your rifle is .503 and you want snug.. I would order them .5035 but that's up to you.

I designed that UC Short to be a compromise for slower twist barrels yet still work well in the 1:24" White twist. You might want to try a few of those as well.

How did the barrel shortening work out for you? If he put an 11º target crown on it, you may not like the way it handles starting the conicals. My smith did on my Encore so I wound up doing a DIY job on the crown and it came out great! Did he save/alter your ramrod?

I am finding it hard to start my FPBs at the range but the Maxiballs and PR bullets I tried started well. So I have run some FPBs through at home to presize them to try next.

He did shorten the ramrod an inch as well. Kind of different since I use one of the folding T handle ramrods, but he did OK there.
