Omega Stock Screws Too Short. #@$%!!
 

Just finished sanding out the barrel channel on my Omega to float the barrel.
Placed a couple of thin neoprene washers on the barrel lugs.
Now the front stock screw is too short

When I first received the gun last year I had to drill out the recess in the stock to make the front lug screw connect.

I've searched the T/C site and Googled my a$$ off hunting for replacement screws or to even find out what the threads are,

Looking for suggestions.

Take the screw to any place that deals exclusively in nuts,bolts and screws. They can tell you what size thread it is and most likely have a longer one.

I'm planning to head to the hardware store tomorrow.
I'm hoping to find some socket button head screws with the right threads.
They torque better than the original slot heads screws.

Good luck. If a hardware store can't help you look in the phone book.There's places that deal with nothing but nuts,bolts and screws.

I had to get a few screws for a Nissan skid plate. Nissan wanted right at 5.00 ea. The guy at Nissan told me to check this bolt house right down the road. I got a half dozen for less then a dollar.

Problem is, I live in a very small town in Tennessee. The closest Bolt & Screw business is 60 miles round trip.
I'm hoping the local hardware or auto parts store will have what I need.
I used my Tap & Die set to figure out the threads. The stock screws are #10-32.

Maybe they'll have a couple of Button Head #10-32 x 3/4"

Good luck. I know all about living in a small town. I was a good half away from most anything when I lived in Florida.

Since it's a #10-32 that shouldn't be hard to find.

Omega all fixed. I found the screws at the local hardware.
I got 2 socket head 10-32 screws. I decided to get stainless.

3/4" long for the front and 1/2" for the rear lug.

I had to cut off 2 threads on the front screw so the ramrod had clearance.
The addition of the neoprene washers to the lug slots totally floated the barrel.

I'll be checking how it'll group in the morning. If all is OK, I'll be off to my stand in the afternoon.

just curious you said toqure the screws do you use a toqure wrench if so how tight?

I wanted torque head screws, but could only get socket head. Socket head screw are tightened with an Allen Wrench (Hex Wrench). Torque heads have a Star like slot. You find them often on scope mounting screws.

I torqued the stock screw to 28 inch pounds.
