TC Hawken
I been looking for an hawken rifle for an friend of mine. he has shot both of mine. and loved them.
I found an tc hawken 50cal at an local gunshop for an $150. stock and hardware was in great shape. the barrel did not had an lack of color. looks like it was stripped. I didnot have an light to look down the bore. but did check the muzzle, looked a little dirty. not an bad deal, barrel is bad, there is always green mountain |
Doesn't a brand new TC Hawkins run over $600

I would not pay $150 for that gun if the bore looks a little dirty. In fact, I wouldn't buy any gun without dropping a light down the bore.
In the case you described I would give the seller two options - either let you clean the bore and inspect it with a light before deciding, or take half the original asking price. If you clean it and the bore is unpitted, $150 would be a very good price. If it's only lightly pitted, it would probably be an OK price. If it's badly pitted the gun is worth $100, but you could probably get it for less. |
most likely my friend will call me to take an light and my cleaning kit, it is all up to him.
sent him link earlier to brand new guns. still in the build from parts mode lol |
For $150 i'd buy it and sell the stock for that on ebay.

the lock can go for 70 to 125 barrel, some one would just buy it. for up to 150 lots of part looking up in the past lol |
What exactly is a TC Hawken and why is it worth so much? My brother has a nice TC sidehammer percussion gun he wants to sell but I didn't think it would be worth much. It shoots great but he doesn't really hunt anymore and I don't think he even ever carried it into the woods. How would I go about identifying the gun and what it might be worth?
Sorry to jack your thread. |
It's likely either a Hawken or a Renegade. The Hawken will have brass furniture and a patch box. The Renegade will have blued steel furniture and no patchbox.
It will likely have the model name on the right side of the barrel near the rear sight. |

If it has a round barrel it's likely a New Englander. They are fine guns and lighter/shorter than either the Hawken or Renegade.
