Glad you guys made it out. I started carrying some things with me that will help if I have to spend the night out in the woods. Fire starting materials being first on the list. Extra food & water too. I don't have shelter covered yet, but will work on that too.
As for the guns, I have Knight Revolution and the video that comes with the gun has a guy load it, walk out into a pond where he and the gun are completely submerged. He comes back out, drains the water from the barrel and shoots it across the pond. The sabot makes a waterproof barrier in the barrel and the plastic primer hold makes a waterproof barrier on the nipple. |
My emergency section of my hunting back sack, there is a compass, GPS, camera (to photograph the dummy that got himself into such a mess), three books of matches in a vacuum sealed bag, whistle, a space blanket, small first aid kit, a small push out plastic knife, and I take the small metal (the plastic will work) tins from #11 caps. And I make a candle out of them. I carry two of them. You can start a fire so easy with them. Light the candle, and then start adding your small wood. No holding matches with cold fingers, no finding absolute fire proof tinder, and all the other stuff. Or you can light them for light if you are one that needs a little light around you at night in the woods.
And I always carry a large canteen of fresh water, apples, peanuts, sometimes a chocolate bar, and usually a sandwich (unless it is late in the day) when I hunt. |
