sleepless night
I could not get to sleep last night so I casted up some .459 405 gr. bullets and smelted some range lead (about 14lbs yielded about 9 or 10lbs of lead). the bullets dropped at .459 408gr. total of 81 bullets with 16 rejects so 65 good bullets. can't decide if I am just going to get the sabot for that size or size them down for the .451 sabot.
![]() I thought I saw an post where someone was storing there bullets in an cartage holding case. how does it work out for ya? looks like an great idea. |
I have the same mold. Mine come out 423 grains. Must be the difference in lead. I store mine in old bullet boxes. I even stand them up and make it look nice. Plus you get more of them in there that way. I did size some of mine down to .451 and shot them out of my White .451 Model 97. They did a good job.

My Lee mold for that bullet throws them at 422 grains when using pure lead. They do pretty well in the MMP orange sabots for .457/.458 bullets. I also size them down to .452 and shoot them in Harvester short black sabots. Cheap shooting.

these where out of wheel weight, may end up making some more and sizing an few, going some of the orange and black sabots. once I get my softer lead surplus up, going to cast some up for my win apex 45cal. really won't be until after april before i can do any major work, I also have an .252 255gr mold coming in.
