Scott, just adding a confirmation - that the T7 primers work just fine for me aslo when shooting BH through a Lehigh conversion or even a conversion that I have made using the Lehigh Vent liner. Another primer that works very well is the older Remington 209-4 primer designed for 410 shotguns. I still have most of a brick of those sweet little primers that I used for igniting T7, back in the day when everybody said not to use 209 primers because they pushed the sabot off the powder before igniting the powder... |

Ive looked all over locally and cant find the Rem primers for 410 shells. The STS is the closest ive found and in my new LRH project they are pretty clean....just popping a primer...no range results yet. :( |

So dont worry about cleaning b/w shots. Increase load to 100-110 grains. Foul the barrel with 1-2 primers before shooting a group. Any other ideas? Letting the gun cool down after each shot?? I guess I could try pellets and swab b/w shots.

That is only the breach area. The barrel had plenty of fouling. IMO BH209 shoots best with a fouled bore. Like Ron ive shot well over 30 shots many times and at least 50 shots several times. BH209 didnt keep the breach clean. The Lehigh Knight conversions and Rons breach plugs for the CVAs with a tight fitting primer made the huge difference. My primers look like this all the time if they fit correctly. WinT7s and BH209 without a single hangfire :eek2: ![]() And Win 209s ![]() No Blowby= clean breach and far better ignition even with weak T7 primers. And it just keeps going and going and going and going with nice groups. Shots 3-30 or more load as easily as number 3 did. (BP) |
