Savage to cease production on its ML
 

I read on Doug's message Board today that Savage is apparently ending it's production of their ML. It was said that Henry Ball who is the inventor and holds the patent was told by the CEO of Savage that it would end production at the end of this month due to slow sales of the product. Very sad, great gun IMO.

Several weeks back FG/MD and Max the Expert published this information on the board. At that time MadMax indicated that it was something that he had heard without solid a solid contact and FG/MD mentioned it also as he had read MadMax's post. At that time I suggested they get positive information before posting information like that that could cause some real problems for vendors and even Savage...

Now with the information published on Doug's and the apparent contact with with Mr. Ball - it seems to be that it is coming true.

I hate to see any American ML company quit production but it is really difficult to compete for the $ today with a high quality Ammerican made expensive gun.

You can look at this a couple different ways. Yes, Savage will not be making it any more. But that does not stop that same ML from being made. Henry Ball owns the rights not Savage. I bet that gun will always be made and probably cheaper with higher quality running them thru Bills gun shop. (Henry's son)

Henry now can go back to the full threaded plug and pretty much sale the ML as a custom made ML. I would guess Wakeman would probably be the broker and all sales will go thru him????? Not sure just an opinion.

This could also be a way to get Henry to drop his price to savage as well????? I doubt Henry would fall for that one.

I hate to see them discontinued also, even though I doubt I'll ever own a smokeless ML (or an electric arc one).

That really sucks. I was hoping to pick one up next season. I'm a newb to muzzleloading, so I have no sentimental attachment to black powder. To my thinking, there's a reason why it is not used in modern ammunition. The logical progression of muzzleloaders is Ball's design.

What do y'all think will happen to prices of the used Savage MLs?

MAX was the one to report that last month or some where around there.

Probably will go sky high.

That why i bought the Savage SS/Laminate NIB and still havent fired it.

I was fairly sure this might happen and for $550 i probably wont lose anything on the deal.
