bullet drop from 100 to 200 yds
 

I am looking at a TC encore or Omega. I always read and hear thats is accuate out to 200 yds. If you zero at 100 yds, How much hold over do you need to get to 200 yds? Seems to me like it would be quite of an amount. How much bullet drop form 100 to 200 might be easier. THANKS[8D]

200 yards is a very long shoot for any ML. If you are required to use open sights, its even longer.

If you zero you gun at 100 yards drops will be well over 10" for just about any projectile.

The tables referred to above have zeros at 150 and 200 yards. Even zeroed at 150 yards the drop is enough that you would have to compensate for your aim.

Can' t say I' m doubting anyone' s accuracy, but those ballistic charts look EXTREMELY optimistic to me. What RKenSparc said is very true and in some of the cases presented in the ballistics charts you would also have to adjust for " bullet rise" at closer ranges!

The only way to know what your load will do in your rifle is to shoot it at various ranges and shoot it a lot, particularly if you want to stretch your range. I have one rifle that I will take (and have taken) a 200 yard shot with if all conditions are perfect.

IME shooting 100Gr of Pyrodex with 240GR Hornady XTP and Number# 10/11 caps the difference between 100 and 200 is on average 10 - 12" . I would think this would be about the average guys load and results with an ML. Granted some use more charge or triple 777 combo that with more areodynamic bullet styles, should see those numbers trimmed down some.

Depends on the bullet and your muzzle velocity, of course. I find mine drop around 18" at 200, if zeroed at 100 (MV 1600 FPS, .50 Maxi ball).

Even with a sabot you' ll lose too much energy at 200 yds to ensure a clean kill with a ML . Ranges over 100 yds are generally to be avoided .

In my Savage 10ML-II' s, I zero 1.5" high at 100yds with Hornady .452 250gr XTP' s at a muzzle (actually 25' from muzzle) velocity of 2,600 FPS (3754 FPE). This has me a dead on 150yds (1,900 FPS/2,000 FPE) and just 3.5" low at 200yds (1,700 FPS/1,600 FPS). This is a very potent 200yd plus load/gun combination.

The ordinary muzzleloader will not give one this kind of performance!!

you guys are right on! my knight shooting a 275 gr rem sabot with 100gr of pyrodex,sighted in at +3" @ 100 yds is -3" low at 150 yards but shoots very high @50 yds and has run out of steam at 150 yds.i won' t shoot another deer over 100 yds with my gun.
