Does anyone use bullets from prbullet? DeadCenters is what I'm interested in. Thanks

I use the Dead Centers in 2 of my guns. the 45/50 260 gr and the 40/50 240gr. Both shoot excellent groups and good performance but if you have a tight bore you will find the standard orange sabot very difficult to load. I always liked the lead bullet ,so that is one reason i like them. I have killed more deer though with shockwaves and barnes TMZ's. dead centers are a little expensive for a lead bullet, but they do shoot good

I've used the .357 Dead Centers out of a .45. They shot very good, but I don't use them anymore because they are too expensive.

I think that they are a little overly proud of them... really expensive for a lead bullet (as stated), overinflated BC numbers, and if you look on their website they say that swagged lead bullets are the most accurate followed by jacket lead, I never have understood how they figure that. Also, I have never understood why they make a "high bc, high velocity" bullet out of pure lead anyway, lead is pretty velocity limited

I really like their Ultimate tipped conicals but even they are over priced. I have shot the QT version. Its very similar to the Dead Centers in a 45x40 250gr.
They are fairly accurate and do fly pretty flat but nowhere near the BC as listed. Pure or near pure lead also seems to leave the barrel a bit slower in a sabot vs a jacketed bullet of the same weight. The best price ive found on them is through Cabelas (Extended Range version) if you want to try them. Buying them direct costs more than Barnes or other higher end bullets. |
