200 off my sling slix maybe. I would need practice to take that shot in the field though.

Im reloading my powder tubes right now for my Optima if its nice out tomorrow. I figured i could take some 150 yard shots off the sling slix at my full size deer target.

but I can nicely put a 5 shot group at 200yds in a 2" circle with a rest.
Well, I know when I'm outclassed Breechplug, but I can do that all day at 200 feet.

If we're going to shoot 200 yards I'll have to paraphrase Chief Brody (Roy Scheider).

I don't know about the weather out there, but isn't it still a bit chilly in May? And Md54 is right, I'm from Maryland and I've never even shot at a target at over 100 yards, and I have always limmited my shots with my Hawkens to 75 yards. But I do think I can shoot, though not as well as I could in my younger years. I would seriously consider joining in if I may. I haven't been around here too long but I have been a black powder enthusiast for well over 25 years. I might be speaking a bit too prematurely since you are probably half way across the country from me but it sounds like it would be very informative and a whole lot of fun. You know the Weasel scares me a little too, they say "Never tease a Weasel", and I believe some of you like doing just that. But I think he knows an awful lot, or he has a really good book handy, and would have a lot to share. I will certainly be keeping an eye on this thread to see how things are coming along.

The main question yet to be answered is will the Mountain Devil show up. He made the challenge that he and his equipment would outshoot Chet's. I for one would love to see his 150 yard offhand shooting with open sights. That would be worth the drive in itself.

WOW! I was just looking at Mapquest. I've driven to St.Paul Minnesota from here and you appear to be even farther than that. That means it would take close to 2 days to drive out there. Whew! Thats a long drive.

LOL! Especially in a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier with 250,000 miles on it.

Only 1,424 miles for me. I may need to rent a van to transport those BIG targets because our little Honda CRV is not going to hold those 4' x 4' boards. But DAMN, I hate driving across Kansas. What's the terrain like in central Nebraska?

ok i got to try some 150 yard shooting today off my knee. I blew my 3rd shot in the white due to me not controlling my breathing. The first 2 i was happy with considering how long its been since ive dropped down and shot off hand. Its a whole lot different aiming at a 2" circle VS a deer or elk body.

Making use of my Sling Stix, i fired 3 more shots from 150 on these. I really do like them, not bad for the $30 they cost when they had a sale.

Off hand and stix rest target,

I wasnt shooting off of flat level land either. When i do practice shooting off hand, i like to get onto uneven ground and this spot at 150 was perfect. Actually my only place to get 150 yards lol.

Highly unlike i could go. I am putting money away little by little for either an antelope or mule deer tag for new mexico.

Local in state get together would be better IMO. Thats a big trip and a costly one just for some shooting.

Last time I drove through central Nebraska I slept though it.
