A Problem I Didn't Need - Thinking About Converting
Remember my recently acquired Pedersoli Frontier?
![]() ![]() Well, after doing a little e-mailing back and forth with Richard Beauchamp of BEAUCHAMP & SON INC., DBA Flintlock's Etc. in RICHMOND, MA. (a Pedersoli parts depot), I learned that the gun can be converted to flintlock by merely replacing the drum and nipple with a $4 touch hole liner, and replacing the lock with a Pedersoli flintlock. But the darn lock is $190. Then I went browsing on the Track of the Wolf website and find they sell an L&R lock specifically made for this gun for $135. In response to my inquiry to TotW, they said this is one of their most popular locks used by custom builders for a wide variety of flintlocks. What's a guy to do? |
sure what the heck. $135 for a lock and $4 for a vent liner and more fun shooting, why the heck not? Its a lot cheaper than buying another version in flinter form.

I've never owned a percussion gun, since 1977 I've owned flintlocks...
Nothing is worse than a cheaply made lock on a flintlock...With a good lock, barrel and properly positioned touch hole, flintlocks are fast and reliable, without they are a club... L&R makes a good lock, go for it... |
If I had your money and you had a feather ... we'd both be tickled. Get that wallet out and spend some cash!!
All joking aside, it would really be fun to have that rifle in a flintlock. What a challenge to shoot small game with that rifle. And its not like a flintlock is new to you. Plus if you change your mind, you have the other lock to put back in. |
Ditto what Cayugad said. Did you ever find a good load for that thing yet? that sure is a purdy piece.
