TC Scout?

Hey Guys,

I ran across a .50 Thompson Center Scout for a pretty good price. Looks clean with a good bore. Kinda` looks like a Winchester Model 94 30-30.

I don't know a thing about this model. Have any of you ever had one? Pros/Cons???

Just can't pass up a good deal I guess. I thought I might buy it, play around with it for a few hundred rounds, then see if I can sell it for what I paid.

Many years a go I thought they were a lot of fun. If you get it you will proably keep it.

Had one a long time ago it was a great shooting gun and it was an easy carry in the woods gave it away to a friend who wanted to start muzzy hunting

I'm sure the workings and required cleaning techniques versus a more typical inline are apparent to you so no need to go into that. I've picked one up, but never shot one. I'm sure it will shoot pretty well.

"Because I didn't already have one" is the reason I usually give when someone asks me why I bought something. That's reason enough.

DANG! I waited too long. He sold the darn thing for $50.

That was a real deal. And they also made a matching BP pistol. Tom.

I had a friend that used one for years. He liked it but always said it was a pain to clean. I believe it took some special tool and a little work to clean the nipple area. Iron sights on it left something to be desired in my opinion.

Hey Semi, one of the gun shops I go to has one for 100 bucks I think. I cant remember the price. If you want I could double check for you. Thats if you really want one.

The breechplug/nipple configuration was very strange and did not match anything else that you could buy. If you needed a new nipple you would have a hard time finding one. I had one of the Scouts and killed one elk with it but sold it due to the strange configuration of the breechplug and difficulty getting the "false breechplug" chamber clean. It had to have the barrel cleaned like a sidelock since the breechplug did not actually come out.
