Never say never

I should know better by now than to say I will never do something because it ends up I often eat my own words:s11:. This time is a good example. Just last year I said I would never own a Savage muzzleloader. Now I have to take that back as I ordered a stainless camo savage today. Should have it by Friday. Will probably put a Nikon Omega scope on it. I got impatient about not finding a White Super 91 :cry:and decided to get the Savage in the mean time.:s2:

I don't blame you at all...If I didn't like the smell of real black powder so good, I'd get one myself just because it goes bang... :)

Heck, the way some of these guys hate cleaning their muzzleloaders they ought to go ahead and get one themselves...:)

The Bells live right up the road in Greensboro and test their equipment in eastern NC near where our family farms are...

Have you settled on a bullet and powder to go with???

I know they love the Hornady .452 300gr XTP in theirs...

When I had just the Lyman Mustang I said that would be my only in-line `cause I just didn't need more than one.

Then I played with an Omega X7 at Cabala's. Thought about it for a month or two, then picked up one at a "can't pass it up" price in the Bargain Cave.

Now I keep thinking about that $100 Knight I posted a picture of a week or two ago (but I really, really don't want another in-line :s2: ).

However, I can say with some degree of authority :lolabove: that I'll never own a Savage smokeless.

:violin:That's a bummer because the Bore Cleaning Weasel and I just found a NIB one for you. I guess I'll just have to keep it now.

Haven't seen ol` Weasel for quite a while now. I was surprised he didn't show up on April 1st.

I think he goes the other way around - buys 30-06s and loads the cartridges with GOEX.

Congratulations on the Savage. I think they are a fine muzzleloader. But not for me. Unless one was too good to pass up of course. Still I think that I have about all the inlines I also need. It was hard to pass on that Accura at MidwayUSA for $249.99 but I talked myself out of that one.

Let us know how it shoots...

Hey Chet, haven't seen you in quite a while. Good luck with the Savage. I've heard mostly good about them. Look forward to a range report.

I will never buy one unless i can get one in 45cal. :barmy:

I would consider one of the BP only models that were only offered by Cabelas IF the price was right.

I guess I better not say i will never shoot smokeless, but I don't plan on it. I am going to be shooting Blackhorn . I figure if it can take the pressure of smokeless then I could try some hot loads of Blackhorn just to experiment a little. I was thinking of 140 gr of Blackhorn with a Barnes 290 tmz to begin with . Then experiment with different loads and bullets after I see what that does. Maybe even try some Precision rifle duplex sabots with a 357.
Either way it will be fun to play around a little bit.
