Lehigh Gen.2 breech plug

Well i finally broke down and ordered a breech plug for a Knight and it arrived today. Now I need to decide whether to try it on my Elite or one of my Disc extremes. If it works as well as i expect it to then I might outfit all my Knights with them. Now I just need to get out there and give it a whirl. I hope for a cool morning for that. It has been extremely hot lately. Harvest is in full swing and canning time is coming then fire wood. I need to be all caught up by August when the hunting season starts. We don't have 4 seasons here. I only have 2 seasons. They are gardening and hunting season. From Feb til mid October is gardening and August thru Jan is hunting. Although i sqeezed in some fishing with the boys today. Eating fish tomorrow , but can taste the venison already. hmmmm.

I really hope it works as well in your Knight's as it has in all of mine...

Ive used mine in an Elite 45, Extreme 50 both with low serial #s and a GMB54-120.

Performance has been outstanding in all 3.

I was thinking about my Elite or Disc extreme mainly but also wondered about the Long Range Hunter. I have one that I have never fired yet. Thought about using it this year.

Some LRH owners have reported issues but the fix appears to be relatively easy. The NFPJ adapter is a little too tight in some LRH bolt assemblies.

If you have a 45cal, give it a try in that one first. So far that one is my favorite with BH209. I have even used T7 primers with 100% ignition but only in 50F or warmer weather. I havent had a chance to try it in the colder temps.

Groups sweet too.

BIG 45 conical

And 180gr XTPs

Even loose fitting 300gr Powerbelts

My Extreme 50 is the cleanest IMO but only by a small amount.

Well my attempt to try the breechplig was a bust. I started with the Disc extreme because it is my favorite with the thumbhole stock. The adapter wouldn't fit the bolt, it was to tight,. I then decided to try the elite as it is my next favorite Knight. The adapter fit fine and the primer went in fine but would not come out. I had to knock the bolt back. It might work with a different primer but not with the federal I have.
So for now I'm sticking with the full plastic jacketand stock breech plug

I would like to help you with your Gen II plug if you think I can or you might want some help.

First off... the fir in the bolt... because Knight had a few different companies make bolts for them and it was a low bid item - not all bolts in the DISC series are created equal. The bolts in the LRH are the usual culprit but in your case you might have one in an Extreme...

This might help explaine the problem...

If you can get to this thread over on MM it will explain what is going on...

Primer Sticking in the BP... was a/the problem with the first bunch of BP that Dave made it has since been corrected, well I thought it was corrected.

Which primer was sticking?

Fixing the primer pocket is a fairly easy project and if you let Dave know I think he will attend to it right away or if I can help you I would certainly be willing to do that.

I shoot mainly W209's but they are the longest and skinniest of the primers I have. I also shoot a lot of Cheddites and they are the fatest primer ( and shortest) I have. They extract with a bit of pressure but nothing hard.

Thanks sabotloader.
I would like to find an easy fix for the breechplug, I don't like sending stuff back. I know it will never work in the extreme. but it does fit the elite, so if there is an easy way to get the primer out that would be great. I figured when I get to Rapid City i would try some different primers. I can only get Federals around here. Maybe the Winchester's will work better. But any ideas you have are welcomed
thanks

Please try the Win209s. They have worked the best in all of mine and IMO the conversion will "loosen" up a bit with a little use. My Extreme cycles just fine now but was a little snug at first. My GMB 54 was really tight but now is just a little snug. My Elite 45 is flawless in this regard.

The Win209s also fall out of the NFPJ adapter the easiest for me too. They fall out with just a little turn and flip to the side. They seem to "swell" the least also but i havent measured them to be 100% sure.

BTW one of mine needed the breach plug very well snugged and once i did that it made a huge difference. That fraction of a turn in the GMB made a no go into a near prefect crush fit.
