Parker Ballistic Extreme

jsteurrys sent me 3 Parker 275g Ballistic Extreme to test fire through juice jugs.

Here is a picture of a previous setup; the setup today was near the same.

The Triumph was loaded with the same load i have been using on every bullet shot through these juice jugs--105g BH209 lit by W209 primer. The Parker bullet was placed into a crush rib sabot, and pushed home onto the powder. A practice shot into a target placed at 60' was taken, and it hit dead center. The jugs were about 60 feet away from the truck, when the test was made.

The first jug struck is a way to left in the brush off the road, and there is a lid from one of the jugs in the puddle

The second picture shows the jugs up a little closer exactly as they lay after they were shot. The bullet is shown where it was found, and is circled in red. The main bullet penetrated through 4 jugs, and is pictured where it finished. Pieces of jacket were found in front of the jugs, and to the side of the jugs, and in the jugs.

The unfired bullet weighs 275.6g. The biggest piece of the bullet shown in the following picture weighs 191.1g, and is quite a mushroom. Pieces of the fired bullet are pictured along with fired bullet, and the unfired bullet.

I personally like that bullet. It shoots very accurate, and I am sure would be an excellent hunting bullet. Good test.

It has an excellent BC also, it appears to have opened quick. Do you agree with that Impression? I have heard a lot of good things about that bullet, have not shot any myself yet. Do you think they are stout enough for elk? Lee

It penetrated as far as the Gold Dot(s). Did seem to open quick. The price of the Nosler at Wideners, and my faith in the partition makes it my choice for an Elk bullet.
