Loose sabots Help!!

I was shooting the mag express sabots and xtp bullets sold by tc in my traditions pursuit xlt extreme I got a good tight fit in the barrell and they shot 1-2 inch groups at 100 yds. I trying to save some coin bought a box of 100 Hornaday XTP mags and some Harvester sabots I shot saturday and they seemed quite loose in comparison to previous load mentioned and accuracy suffered my groups are now 4-5 inches what sabot would you guys recommend that would fit a bit tighter in my barrell all bullets were 240gr by the way thanks guys all advice greatly appreciated

matt068 - The smooth green (for .44) and smooth black (for .45) are a little thicker and probably what you are after. Same price as the Crush Rib the last time I bought them. They shoot well for me.

Harvester

MMP sells a three size thicknesses of sabot as well. HPH 24 is their middle thickness sabot. The 3 Petal EZ is like the Crush Rib. Doubt you'll need the thick HPH 12 but it might not hurt to try it and see.

MMP

A couple guys here have charts with sabot measurements. I'm sure they'll chime in.

Hope this helps,
Scott

The last one i tried was a MMP HPH-24 and so far i like them the best although they are a bit long with lighter bullets.

MMP also makes the short black sabot which is thicker than the HPH-12 &24 and works well with the XTP's. If its too tight you could use the 12 or 24 and just trim them down

Hey guys...He mentioned a 240gr Hornady, that's the .429 bullet which uses the green sabots...I think you guys are suggesting the black sabot for the .451-.452 diameter bullets...

Go to the MMP and Harvester websites, both sell the green sabots for the .429 diameter bullets...

Did you by chance buy the crush rib sabots? The crush ribs look like they are serrated: They do load easier.

Exactly there is also a green crush rib sabot for the .430 bullet. I have a big bunch of short black sabots that came with the .430 240 grain XTP bullets. I think they were sold by Traditions. That short black sabot loads very hard but is also the most accurate in my old CVA Stag Horn.

There is a .451 240 grain XTP bullet- it is the XTP Mag model.
