Shots fired! Apex on the range

And i wasnt behind the trigger! This is my Dads rifle. I mounted the barrel some days ago and we took it out to first 25 and then 50 yards before the snow drove us in for a few hours. Clouds broke up and turned hot outside so i loaded up the truck and we drove out back to the 75-100 yard range. Weather was perfect for the first 30 minutes and then the storm blew back to us and got COLD, hands felt like ice after a while.

CVA Apex .50cal - 295gr powerbelt - 90gr Volume Blackhorn209 - CCI 209M primers. :happy0001: I dont think we'll mess with that load. 75 yards

After those 3 shots my brother was shooting the Optima for a good 10 minutes after checking the target out.

I THOUGHT i had adjusted the sights and when my dad fired the Apex again............ I must not have adjusted them LOL.

Adjusted the sights up and to the right :happy0001:

Last 2 shots touching.

Earlier i took a shot with it before it was fully sighted in. Whoops! Hey at least i know birchwood casey uses tough steel for the target frames! Good thing it wasnt a Thor. LOL

I had a friend at my range sighting in his rifle, and his first shot took out the leg on my PVC stand... that is some good shooting. Also that is a good looking rifle. Has your Dad tried anything besides powerbelts, like a Thor?

Nope, Just Powerbelts so far. This is the first time we shot the 50cal barrel. Damn accurate rifle right out of the box. He's never had so much fun shooting a muzzleloader, he actually didnt believe us when we were telling him where it was hitting. I swear ever since BH209 has come out, its made sighting in so easy.

Well now that IS some fine shooting - especially with open sights. I can imagine how good it would be with some glass on it. good post. I guess those Begera barrel are pretty good!

You really need to stop posting these experiences. I have watched the Apex, Accura and Wolf do this outstanding shooting with BlackHorn 209. Makes me want a new rifle, and more powder.

What is so amazing is, your taking a person I am guessing, with little skill in muzzleloader. And with just some hints and help you have them shooting that good in just a short time. It means your father is a great shot, your a good teacher, and that is a heck of a rifle. And the bullet and powder of course.
